LARNE FOOTBALL CLUB can confirm that the contract of Thomas Stewart has been terminated by mutual consent

The striker met with Tiernan Lynch ahead of the close of the summer transfer window to discuss his future, and it was decided that Stewart’s contract would be terminated.

Thomas (pictured centre) joined the Inver Reds in January 2018 and made 34 appearances, starting in 24 games and scoring 13, the last of which came in his final appearance as he opened the scoring in the 3-0 win against Lisburn Distillery.

Arguably, his most memorable moment in a Larne shirt came in the Irish Cup Quarter Final against Ballymena United in 2018 as he nodded the winning goal in the Inver Men’s 2-1 win.

However, the 32-year-old unfortunately missed a large part of last season’s Championship winning season with an ankle injury.

Larne manager, Tiernan Lynch said, “I had a chat with Tommy and reluctantly agreed to grant his release from his contract.

“Tommy showed faith in us by joining early in our journey, and we thank him for everything he has done during his time at the club. He leaves us with our best wishes.

“The summer transfer window has closed, however we still have the opportunity to sign out of contract players, and we having a few discussions around that possibility.”

Larne Football Club wishes to place on record its gratitude to Thomas for his efforts and we wish him the best of luck for the future.
