Scullion takes up NIFL role and named Vice Chairman

We are pleased to announce board member Andrew Scullion has been named as the Club’s new Vice Chairman.

Andrew, who has been on the club’s board for almost four years, will also take up the role of representing the club at NIFL Premiership meetings, following Archie Smyth’s move to Honorary President.

The move comes shortly after Neil Clarke, David Hunter and Joel Neill have all agreed to join the board ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Chairman Gareth Clements welcomed the appointment, saying: “It gives me great pleasure to welcome Andrew Scullion into the role of Vice Chairman at the football club.

“Andrew is a life long supporter of the club, as well as being a long standing and well respected member of the board.

“This season, Andrew has taken on an additional role as representative of Larne Football Club on the Premiership Management Committee. With this role comes an added investment of time and no shortage of responsibility.

“The vice-chair title, along with being well deserved, gives Andrew’s seat at the PMC table the status and position that it indeed warrants.

“I wish Andrew many years of fulfilment and success in the role.”

Speaking about his new role, Andrew says he is honoured to follow in the footsteps of those who have held the position previously.

“It is an honour to be entrusted with such an important role by Kenny Bruce, the Chairman and my fellow board members,” he said.

“It is not lost on me that Larne Football Club has had some very talented individuals hold the office of Vice Chairman and represent the club at league level in the past.

“The club has made incredible progress in a very short space of time. Since Kenny Bruce became involved, he has lifted levels throughout the club and there are a lot of reasons to be proud.

“However, the recent additions to the Board show that there is no resting on laurels. The aim is to compete at the top of Irish League football but as we get closer to that, the gains we can make will be smaller and they’ll be harder to find. On and off the pitch, I think we’re well placed to compete at the top and I’m delighted to play a more important role in that.”
