Midfielder Andy Scott has been given a call-up to the Northern Ireland under-21 squad by caretaker manager Andy Crosby.

The under-21’s face a home double header of European qualifiers over the course of the next week. They take on Finland at the Ballymena Showgrounds on Friday 9th October, before welcoming Ukraine to the same venue on Tuesday 13th October.

Both games are being played behind closed doors, with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Andy arrived at Inver Park during the summer and has impressed in pre-season since his move from Accrington Stanley.

The Castlederg-born player is one of a number of Danske Bank Premiership stars in the under-21 squad, alongside players such as Glentoran trio Caolan Marron, Paul O’Neill and Bobby Burns and Linfield duo Ross Larkin and Shayne Lavery.

The call-up is likely to mean Scott misses Larne’s season opener against Ballyclare Comrades in the County Antrim Shield on Saturday, and the potential quarter-final tie next Tuesday should Tiernan Lynch’s men make it past the Comrades.
