WE are delighted to announce that following the relaunch of the Brighter Futures community fund programme in October 2021, two organisations have now received support from our official charity, in partnership with Kilwaughter Minerals Limited.

Representatives of both Sands United Larne and East Coast Athletics Club attended an awards ceremony at Inver Park last week, where they became the first beneficiaries of our improved programme, with a total sum of £2,316 being handed out.

Sands United, a local amateur football team which aims to provide direct peer support for bereaved parents and raise awareness about stillbirth and neo-natal death attended the event alongside East Coast AC, a volunteer led athletics club which acts as a fitness hub for both males and females of all ages, each qualifying for support via the ‘Sport and Recreation’ category of the programme.

Marking the start of our revamped community support, Brighter Futures’ Strategic Advisor Sandara Kelso-Robb said: “We are absolutely delighted to kick-start our new and improved community fund programme by supporting two very deserving organisations.

“Both Sands United and East Coast AC are doing excellent work in the local community and are more than deserving of the support they have received, which is just the start of our work in the community this year.”

Discussing what is to come in the future, Sandara commented: “While these two organisations have today accepted our support, we are in communication with several other applicants who will become beneficiaries in the coming weeks and months, while the overall programme remains rolling and we continue to invite applications all-year round.

“On behalf of Brighter Futures, I would once again like to thank Kilwaughter Minerals for their continued support of our programme, which has allowed us to continue supporting those within the local community.”

Speaking on behalf of Kilwaughter Minerals, CEO Gary Wilmot (pictured above handing over the support to Sands United) said: “Giving back to our community is exceptionally important at Kilwaughter and we are very proud of our partnership with Larne FC and the Brighter Futures Fund.

“As a locally based business, we have seen the positive impact that the Brighter Futures initiative has made within Larne itself and across the surrounding area.

“Congratulations go to each of the recipients in the latest round of grants. We are very much looking forward to seeing the difference the funding makes as the scheme continues to assist a broad range of worthy projects over the coming months.”
