Remembering Walter Scott

Larne Football Club was deeply sorry to learn earlier today of the passing of Walter Scott.

Walter has been associated with the club in number of capacities,  including board member, secretary and programme editor as well as being a Life Member of the club.

The Whitehad man was a hugely popular figure around Inver Park and showed his dedication to the club across the last four decades.

This included becoming editor of the popular Inverview programme, a position he held for more than 10 years, having taken up the post in 1991.

Chairman Gareth Clements lead the tributes. He said: “It was with great regret that I learned earlier today of the passing of Walter Scott.

“I knew Walter for about thirty five years, from our time as contributors to the Inverview when Robert Hutchinson and Brian Craig were editors during the 1980’s.

“Walter himself went on to edit the programme for many years, and was a real font of knowledge about our clubs history and the Irish league in general.

“In recent years, I enjoyed our sporadic chats at Inver Park and more often than not on social media.

“Undoubtedly, Walter is a big loss to the Larne FC family, my thoughts and prayers are with the Scott family circle at this sad time. Rest in peace Waldo.”
