FIRST Team Goalkeeping Coach Michael Dougherty has left the club.
Michael, who arrived at Inver Park in June 2018, has stepped down to due to commitments outside his role at the club.
This primarily involves his running of the Northern Ireland Goalkeeping Institute, and the expansion in this role over the last number of months.
As a player at the club, Michael won a Bluefin Sport Championship winners medal last season, before moving into coaching with the Invermen on a full-time basis this term.
Explaining his move away from the club, he said: “It has come out of the blue and totally out of my control.
“I still have a day to day job with running the Northern Ireland Goalkeeping Institute partnered with NIFL and Football Management Company.
“That has gone on to bigger and better things and I have 18 goalkeepers in on a full time basis, doing their pitch, gym and classroom sessions.
“Trying to juggle that with Larne’s commitments was taking a lot out of me in the last couple of months. I fought against it and continued to do it, but ultimately I think it’s not the best thing for the goalkeepers at Larne to have me on a part time basis.”
Boss Tiernan Lynch also expressed his thanks to the ongoing coach.
“Michael has been an important influence for us during his time at the club, and did very well on a number of occasions when he played for us last season,” he said.
“I know I speak for the coaching staff when I express our thanks to him for his commitment and efforts during his time at Inver Park.
“We wish him well in whatever the future holds.”
