Midfielder Ben Tilney has completed the paperwork on a loan switch to Portadown, which will see him arrive at Shamrock Park once the transfer window opens on Friday.

The 23-year-old, who has been at Inver Park since the summer of 2018, will make the move after recovering from an injury which has kept him out since the start of the current campaign.

Ben, who arrived from MK Dons, played an important role in winning the 2018/19 Championship title in his first season in Irish League football.

His performances throughout that season were rewarded by being included in the NI Football Writers Team of the year, as the Invermen clinched promotion.

He moves on in search of regular football, with boss Tiernan Lynch wishing him well on the next step of his footballing journey.

“Ben has been a top professional since the day and hour he arrived at the club,” Lynch said.

“He has played a massive part in the journey the club has been on to this date and we wish him nothing but good things.

“He has applied himself brilliantly well and has made a big contribution not only on the pitch, but also off it as he has got involved in many community initiatives in the town.

“The timing of his injury, just before this season started, was really unfortunate and he’s at the stage now where he wants to be playing games regularly and hopefully he can do that at Portadown.”

Ben’s loan move will see him spend the remainder of the 2020/21 season at Shamrock Park.
