Tiernan Lynch’s men moved to within a point of leaders Cliftonville after an eventful 4-2 win away to Dungannon Swifts.

Lee Lynch scored twice, while Mark Randall was also on target as Larne raced into a 3-1 lead inside the opening quarter of the game.

Dungannon pulled another back to make it an uncomfortable end to the half, before David McDaid extended the lead in the second period as Larne ran out deserved winners.

The deadlock was broken with less than three minutes on the clock. Mark Randall found space to slip the ball to Tomas Cosgrove and his cross found Lee Lynch, who curled a lovely effort into the bottom corner for the opener.

Dungannon netted the equaliser six minutes later, however. The home side won possession down the left flank through Joe McCready and he moved he ball inside for Darragh McBrien to fire home an unstoppable effort from 20 yards.

Undeterred though, Larne regained the lead with 14 minutes on the clock. Good pressing from the visitors, saw goalkeeper Alex Moore palm out a cross and Lee Lynch did well to keep his effort down and find the roof of the net.

As the breathless start continued Larne made it 3-1, three minutes later. The good work once again came down the right flank, this time Navid Nasseri crossed for Mark Randall to sweep home a good finish from 15 yards out.

The home side weren’t done there however as they got themselves back into the contest on 28 minutes. A good move from Dean Shiels’ side ended with Ryan Mayse turning and finding the bottom right corner.

The second half was a quieter affair in front of goal, but Larne began to regain more control and sealed the points with the final goal of the day on 55 minutes.

Navid Nasseri and Tomas Cosgrove linked up well on the right flank once more, with the latter getting to the byline and crossing for Davy McDaid to slot home from a yard out to make it 4-2.

Thereafter, Andy Mitchell’s half volley flew just over the crossbar, while Lee Lynch had an opportunity to complete his hat-trick but was denied by goalkeeper Moore.
