Larne team up with Her Game Too anti-sexism initiative

Larne Football Club are delighted to announce a new partnership with Her Game Too, a UK-wide initiative which aims to raise awareness of sexist abuse within the realms of football.

The Inver Reds, who are the first football club from Northern Ireland to agree a partnership, join clubs from both the English Premier League and Football League amongst others in committing to raise awareness of the problems faced in football by females.

Her Game Too was founded by 12 passionate female football fans who are committed to growing the campaign with the aim of fostering an ethos in football in which women are welcomed and respected equally.

The non-profit organisation aims to create awareness, educate, research, develop a strong sense of community and create strong relationships with clubs, alongside creating regular content to champion women in football (players, staff and fans).

As part of the agreement, Tuesday night’s clash with Glenavon at Inver Park will be an official Her Game Too fixture with women and children of all ages given access to free tickets for the game. Furthermore, we will host a ‘Her Game Too Awareness Day’ on our social media channels tomorrow – where we will announce the appointment of our Her Game Too Ambassador and outline further plans to promote our ‘one club for all’ mantra.

Speaking on the partnership, Co-Founder of Her Game Too Lucy Ford said:

“It’s brilliant to partner up with Larne Football Club. They are a club who do so much for equality in the community already, so they match the values of Her Game Too perfectly.

“Discrimination has no place in football and we can’t thank Larne Football Club enough for backing our movement and for helping us to stamp sexism out of the game.”

Club Chairman Gareth Clements also spoke on the partnership, stating:

“We are absolutely delighted to become Her Game Too’s first official partner in Northern Ireland. As a community-based club that is proud to have so many female supporters attending games regularly, we are extremely keen to ensure that we continue to do all we can to make Inver Park the best venue possible for them to watch their football club.

“While we look forward to celebrating our female fanbase at our Her Game Too fixture on Tuesday night via our free ticket initiative, this partnership brings about long-term ambitions which will be announced in due course tomorrow.

“Thank you once again to Her Game Too, and particularly Lucy Ford for working closely with our staff to get this partnership over the line.”
