Ladies roar back from two down to seal Inver win

Larne Ladies came from two goals down to record a 3-2 victory at home to East Belfast, as they continued their pre-season preparations.

East Belfast got the game underway and had the chances in the early stages/ Both sides came close to scoring as the game developed, but it was the visitors who struck first in the dying moments of the first half.

Larne ‘keeper Glass missed her attempted clearance punch and Hannah Kilgore was there to tap home, giving East Belfast a 1-0 lead at half-time.

The Inver Women got us underway for the second half and dominated play, substitute Francesca Agnew was through on goal but her chance saved by the East Belfast goalkeeper.

The goalkeeper then cleared the ball up field playing through team mate Melisa Galloway, and she calmly slotted it past Shannon Rea to double their lead.

Larne were knocking on the door shortly after East Belfast doubled their lead, and got themselves back into it through Marion Gage, when her sweetly struck free kick from range found the top corner of the goal.

Immediately from the kick off Larne won the ball back and substitute Hannah Robinson raced clear and to tap the ball home for 2-2.

On the stroke off full-time, Larne Ladies completed the comeback. Jennifer Montgomery won the ball in midfield, beat one defender and played the ball into Kylie Doherty, and her shot found its way into the back of the net.

The Ladies surged forward in injury time for a fourth goal through Ellie Houston, who was fouled on the edge of the box, but referee decided time was up and blew for full-time. This meant the score was Larne Ladies 3 East Belfast Ladies 2 after 90 minutes, with Ellie Houston being selected as player of the match by the referee.
