LARNE Football Club is delighted to announce the arrival of Kirsty Spiers, who joins Tiernan Lynch’s backroom staff as a Sports Nutritionist for the upcoming season.

Kirsty, a local student at Ulster University, joins the Inver Reds as part of her university placement and will work within the first team set up alongside Head Sports Therapist, Mick O’Boyle.

Ahead of her arrival at Inver Park, Kirsty said: “I am very excited to be working alongside Mick and the rest of the first team as part of my placement.

“I hope to be working in the sports and athletic industry for my career in the future and I am extremely grateful to have been given this massive opportunity within the club as it will really help me develop the skills and knowledge I need after I graduate. I’m looking forward to getting started with all the players and gaining experience from Mick and his team.”

Head Sports Therapist, Mick O’Boyle added: “Firstly, I would like to welcome Kirsty to the club. Her knowledge and expertise will be a promising addition to the current performance staff.

“Nutrition is an element that will bring that extra level of athleticism to help improve the current standards within our senior squad, which will hopefully give us the edge in the upcoming season. “It is great to see local students joining the team and utilising the platform on their doorstep. We are currently the only club in Northern Ireland that provides the opportunity for students to gain experience within full-time football.

“As a club we aim to provide a pathway for Kirsty’s learning while allowing her to develop key practical skills which will enhance her future career. As a club we are encouraging applications from local students to join the team and we hope to work with many students of Larne in the future.”

Everyone at Larne Football Club welcomes Kirsty to Inver Park and look forward to seeing her progress during the duration of her placement.
