Irish Cup run ends after Ballymena shoot-out defeat

Larne exited the Samuel Gelston’s Whiskey Irish Cup at the quarter-final stage on Saturday after a penalty shoot-out defeat away to Ballymena United.

The game ended 3-3 after 90 minutes, with Larne leading 2-0 and 3-1 in the first half but were pegged back by the hosts each time.

Caolan Loughran then scored the winning spot kick to send David Jeffrey’s side through to the last four.
