Girls football continues to grow rapidly

Sep 25, 2018 | Archive

Our girls’ football programme has been growing rapidly since it recommenced in July, with over 40 girls aged from 5 years to 14 years training two nights a week under the guidance of Daniel Carlisle and his coaching team. On top of this, we have established a number of teams that participate weekly at four different age groups.

Like the boys’ set up, we want to create a conveyor belt of players who can progress to play in our Larne Ladies First Team in the coming years, and the success of Larne Ladies this season has helped to raise the profile of the our programme.

Over the coming weeks and months we will continue to develop this programme, working closely with the Irish FA Women’s Domestic Department to create a programme that is sustainable and provides opportunities for as many young girls as possible to get involved in our club.

The club would like to thank Northern Ireland defender Julie Nelson, who took the time to come down and meet our girls last week. Julie, who was born and raised in Larne, is someone that all of our girls can look up to as a role model, having recently received her 100th international cap for Northern Ireland.

If you would like to find out more information about getting involved, email youth@larnefc.com of contact Daniel Carlisle directly on 07740 340827.
