LARNE ran out 5-0 winners against Warrenpoint Town on Friday night as they guaranteed a top six place ahead of the Premiership split.

The Invermen were good value for their victory over Warrenpoint, having scored five goals – through five different goalscorer – and created plenty more opportunities besides.

Tiernan Lynch’s men were two goals to the good at half-time, having been set on their way by Josh Robinson’s eighth minute headed goal from a Marty Donnelly corner.

On the 20 minute mark they doubled their lead from the spot after Ronan Hale was fouled inside the box. Andy Mitchell maintained his impressive penalty record when he slotted home.

Ronan Hale had two good opportunities to extend the lead, while another Robinson header clipped the crossbar in the first half.

Two goals in quick succession at the start of the second half made sure of the points, however.

On 49 minutes, Fuad Sule produced a perfectly-weight ball over the top of the Warrenpoint defence to put Donnelly in and he finished neatly over Andy Coleman.

Three minutes later Hale added his name on the scoresheet, taking Dean Jarvis’ cutback in his stride before turning and firing low across Coleman into the bottom corner.

Davy McDaid came off the bench to round off the scoring, in a near carbon copy of the third goal, bring down a Sule pass and lobbing in from a tight angle.
