Fans’ initiative aiming to make it ‘A Brighter Christmas’ in Larne

Three Larne Supporters Clubs have joined forces for a special charity initiative to make this year ‘A Brighter Christmas’ for those in need – and are calling on the Red & White Army to get involved!

Representatives from the Inver Red & Whites, The Larne NI Supporters Club and The Larne Reds Supporters Club approached Larne FC, and its official charity Brighter Futures, asking what they could do to help their town after another particularly difficult year.

‘A Brighter Christmas’ is a project by the community, for the community and will comprise of four special charity donation nights at Inver Park during Larne FC home matches in the lead up to the festive period, each with their own unique theme:

Friday 5th November (Larne v Crusaders): FOOD BANK COLLECTION

Saturday 13th November (Larne v Glenavon): ESSENTIALS COLLECTION

Tuesday 30th November (Larne v Cliftonville): VOUCHER COLLECTION

Friday 17th December (Larne v Linfield):CHRISTMAS CASH COLLECTION

The first of these collections is THIS FRIDAY,  5th November when Crusaders visit Inver Park at 7:45pm, for a live streamed Danske Bank Premiership encounter.

We are asking for anyone attending this match to please add a few extra items to their weekly food shop and bring them along to our special drop off point located inside the main gates of the stadium.

The Larne Food Bank is currently in need of extra donations of the following items:

  • Breakfast juice
  • Tinned potatoes
  • Tinned tomatoes
  • Tinned vegetables
  • Rice (Grain and Rice Pudding)
  • Custard

Alex Munro, Hon. Secretary of Larne Food Bank, said: “Our mission is to meet the needs of those suffering food poverty, and over the past year 22.3 tonnes of food was given out to those in need.

“Coming up to Christmas, it is tremendous to get the support of Larne FC’s Supporters Clubs.”

“This year we are aiming to give out more than 200 food hampers in the local community, and your donations will be invaluable in making that happen.”

Further information about the remaining three nights (Essentials, Vouchers, Christmas Cash Collection) will be issued in the days leading up to each match. Thank you for your fantastic support.
