THIS season, the Larne Olympic (under 20) and Under 18 teams will operate from one collective pool of players referred to as the Development Squad.

Hugh McKendry is in charge of the Development Squad together with Darrin Crawford, and the Young Inver Men started their league seasons this weekend.

The Under 18s got the league campaign of with a home game against Portadown in the National league on Friday night at The Cliff.

It finished 3-2 to Portadown but it was a very entertaining game an some really good attacking football from both sides. The Larne lads created alot of chances in the game and hit the post twice. Whilst they really deserved to take something from the game, they just weren’t clinical enough in front of goal on the night. The goals came Matthew Herron and Luke Harrison.

On Saturday, Larne Olympic got their league campaign off to a winning start with a 2-0 victory against H&W Welders at Inver Park.

It was another entertaining game with both teams playing at a fast pace and again Larne created a number of great chances to score more goals and hit the woodwork in this game also.

The goals came from Ciaran McErlean and Brian Cabraley. All in all it was a very encouraging start to the season with a lot of new players joining the club in the summer.
