Georgia Crawford’s double gave Larne Ladies a 2-1 win at the Cliff on a wet and windy Wednesday against a strong Carnmoney side.

Crawford got the game underway and immediately there was a chance for Rebecca Boyce, but her shot was wide. The Ladies then had another chance as Ashton Hunter made a superb run from her own half but a last gasp tackle from Carnmoney defender denied her getting the shot away.

On the half hour mark Crawford grabbed her first goal of the game, her left footed shot from 35 yards out flew into the back of the net giving Carnmoney keeper no chance and putting her side 1-0 up.

On the stroke of half-time Carnmoney grabbed the equaliser, the winger made an exceptional run from her own half to get on the end of a superb ball who then went on and tapped the ball past Larne ‘keeper Glass to bring them in at half time at one apiece.

The visitors had the first chances of the second half, Larne playing some dangerous football in their box with a high press for Carnmoney but it was cleared away by Noble. Carnmoney went on the attack and won a corner which led to a goal mouth scramble with the ball eventually being off the line with a shot rebounding off the post then being saved by Larne ‘keeper Glass.

With half an hour left to play Larne regained their lead and it was Georgia Crawford again on the scoresheet. Glass played a superb ball through to play maker Marion Gage who in turn found Crawford and she chipped home to regain the lead.

The Inver women had a chance to double their lead in the dying minutes of the game from a corner but the it was well cleared by Carnmoney who then went on an attack of their own to grab a last gasp equaliser but the shot rebounded off the post and into the Glass’s arms to ensure a final score of Larne 2 Carnmoney 1.
