Larne Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Andrew Mitchell.

Andrew moves to Inver Park from reigning Danske Bank Premiership Champions Linfield, having spent the last two and a half years at Windsor Park.

The 27-year-old began his youth career at Manchester City before moving to Rangers in 2010, where he spent four years. During this stint at Ibrox the club won promotions from the Scottish Third Division and League One,  as part of  their return back to the top flight.

Following a brief spell at Southport, Andrew returned home to sign for Crusaders in the summer of 2015, spending two seasons at Seaview and helping Stephen Baxter’s men to a league title in his first season. In 2017, he moved across the city and signed a three-year contract with Linfield, where he won another league crown.

First team boss Tiernan Lynch is delighted with the capture of the former Northern Ireland under-21 international.

He said: “I’m absolutely delighted.  It’s another part of the jigsaw, we talk about it our long-term vision and we know where we want to go.

“I was so impressed with Andrew and his desire to come here. His readiness to leave his job and come here to be full-time.

“Andrew is a top, top player. He’s played for Rangers’ first team, he’s won titles at Crusaders and Linfield and we are delighted to get him here.

“After the first training session you can see the standards lifting of everyone around him.”

You can watch a full version of our interview with Tiernan later this afternoon.

Andrew is eligible for section in Saturday’s game at home to Glentoran (5.30pm) and will wear the number 17 shirt for the Invermen.
