Tiernan Lynch’s first team squad aren’t the only part of the club preparing for a big cup game this week, as our 2009 South Belfast Youth League squad take part in the SBYL Supplementary Cup Final on Saturday night.

The 2009 team, who featured heavily on social media last week as part of our ‘Team of the Week’ series, face Willowbank at H&W Welders’ newly opened Blanchflower Stadium in East Belfast, kick-off 6.30pm.

Recently promoted to the SBYL Premier Section, the young Inver Reds have shown tremendous improvement over the last 12 months.

This has delighted Head Coach Curtis Rees, who said: “The highlight of the year has to be gaining promotion to the SBYL Premier Section. This was a great achievement for the boys and a reward for their hard work and efforts. It’s great seeing them taking the things we work on in training into matches.”

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Cup Final, he said: “We’re all looking forward to the game, the boys are excited and raring to go.

“We know it’s going to be a tough game, but we also know what we’re capable of and hopefully we can get the win on the night and bring the cup home!”

Everyone at Larne Football Club wishes our 2009’s the very best of luck on Saturday night, and would encourage any supporters to come out and support the team!
